Helicopter Crash in Kenya Kills 7, Investigation Underway
A helicopter crashed near Mount Ololokwe in Kenya's northern Samburu County on August 19, 2026, killing all seven people on board, according to blueprint.ng. The aircraft, a Eurocopter EC130 B4, was flying from the Loisaba wildlife conservancy towards the Ewaso Nyiro area when it went down at approximately 9:13am local time. The helicopter burst into flames after crashing, and the Kenya Red Cross and other emergency response teams were deployed.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) said it was coordinating with relevant government agencies and other stakeholders following the accident. The Air Accident Investigation Department is expected to lead the investigation. The cause of the crash has not been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.
The operator was identified as &Beyond by blueprint.ng. The aircraft's registration was reported as 5Y-GYM.
