NTSB Releases New Video of Philadelphia Learjet Crash
The NTSB has released new investigative material, including surveillance videos and reports, regarding the crash of a Learjet 55 in Philadelphia on January 31, 2025, shortly after 6 p.m. The aircraft, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, was airborne for about 22 seconds before crashing near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Mall. Two people on the ground were killed and 24 were injured, according to avweb.com.
The aircraft, registered as XA-UCI, is a twin-engine jet landplane registered in Mexico, according to aircraft registry records. The NTSB has not yet determined what caused the crash. The NTSB case number is ERA25MA106.
Weather observations recorded at Philadelphia International Airport, about 6.9 miles away, six minutes from the reported time, showed wind from 200 degrees at 18 knots, visibility 6 statute miles, broken clouds at 600 feet, light rain and mist, and a temperature of 49 degrees Fahrenheit.
The NTSB database lists four other cases involving Learjet 55 aircraft since 2008, one of which involved a fatality. This record says nothing about the cause of this accident.
