The National Weather Service in San Juan warns that heat-related illnesses will increase significantly during the extreme heat and high humidity expected Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 9 AM to 5 PM AST. The warning covers nine zones: San Juan and Vicinity, Northeast, Southeast, Eastern Interior, North Central, Ponce and Vicinity, Northwest, Mayaguez and Vicinity, and Southwest.
The warning states that this level of heat affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.
