Flash Flood Watch Issued for Aspen Acres Burn Scar in Pueblo County
The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Aspen Acres burn scar and surrounding areas, effective from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. MDT on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The watch expires at 9 p.m. MDT on Sunday. The watch covers the Wet Mountains between 6,300 and 10,000 feet, the Wet Mountains above 10,000 feet, and Pueblo vicinity/Pueblo County below 6,300 feet, including the cities of Pueblo and Rye.
Heavy rainfall over the burn scar is expected during the watch period, which could trigger flash flooding of low-lying areas, urban street flooding, and debris flows in and near recent wildfire burn scars. Residents near the Aspen Acres burn scar are advised to prepare for potential debris flow and to stay updated with information from local authorities.
The watch was issued at 11:14 a.m. MDT on Saturday, August 22. Officials advise monitoring later forecasts and being prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
