Freeze Watch Issued for South Central Siskiyou County and Other Areas
The National Weather Service in Medford, Oregon, has issued a freeze watch for parts of southern Oregon and northern California, in effect from 3 AM PDT late tonight through 9 AM PDT Monday morning, September 7, 2026.
The watch covers South Central Siskiyou County, Northeast Siskiyou and Northwest Modoc Counties, and Modoc County in California, and the Klamath Basin, Northern and Eastern Klamath County and Western Lake County, and Central and Eastern Lake County in Oregon. Affected communities include Klamath Falls, Lakeview, Alturas, McCloud, Dorris, Tulelake, Chiloquin, and Sprague River.
Widespread frost is expected, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees possible. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. The weather service advises taking steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

Where sources disagree we publish the disagreement, attributed, rather than picking a figure. Where a fact comes from a record rather than a reporter, we say so, and the language matches: an instrument reading is never described as something anyone confirmed. Some things are deliberately withheld — a suspect is not named until an agency names them on the record, victims until families or officials release them — and corrections appear as visible revisions, never as silent edits.
None of that makes a report true. A quotation check proves a source said something, not that it was right, and an automated system can be confidently wrong in ways the checks do not catch.
