Heat advisories issued for Labor Day weekend across Dallas-Fort Worth and Red River region
Heat advisories are in effect for the Labor Day weekend across parts of the South, including the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and regions along the Red River, according to reports from WDSU, FOX 4, and WTOK. The advisories are scheduled to begin either Sunday, September 6, or Monday, September 7, and end either Sunday evening or Monday evening, depending on the source. FOX 4 reports the advisory runs from Sunday, September 6, through 11:59 p.m. that day, while WDSU says it takes effect Monday, September 7, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Forecasters describe the conditions differently. FOX 4's weather team reports relentless heat and widespread drought gripping North Texas, with temperatures reaching triple digits and no significant rainfall in sight. WDSU reports a Heat Advisory for Monday with highs in the mid-90s and heat indices between 108 and 111 degrees. WTOK reports highs in the mid and upper 90s with heat index values reaching triple digits.
Precautions also vary by source. WDSU advises residents celebrating Labor Day outdoors to stay hydrated, take frequent cooling breaks in air-conditioned spaces, check backseats for children and pets, and move indoors if thunder is heard.
