NWS Issues Heat Advisory for All of South Florida on August 16
The National Weather Service Miami FL has issued a Heat Advisory for all of South Florida, in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT on August 16, 2026. According to National Weather Service records, heat index values of 105 to 110 are expected.
The advisory covers 15 zones, including Glades, Hendry, Inland Palm Beach County, Metro Palm Beach County, Coastal Collier County, Inland Collier County, Inland Broward County, Metro Broward County, Inland Miami, Dade County, Metropolitan Miami Dade, Mainland Monroe, Coastal Palm Beach County, Coastal Broward County, Coastal Miami Dade County, and Far South Miami. Cities within the affected areas include Hialeah, Coral Springs, Sunrise, Sandalfoot Cove, Golden Gate, and Moore Haven.
National Weather Service records state that hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Official precautions instruct people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
