Heat Advisory for Sevier, Howard, Little River and Surrounding Areas Until 7 PM CDT Wednesday
The National Weather Service in Shreveport, Louisiana, has issued a Heat Advisory effective from 10 AM to 7 PM CDT on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The advisory covers portions of south central and southwest Arkansas, north central and northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, and east and northeast Texas, including the counties of Sevier, Howard, and Little River in Arkansas, among others. The advisory expires at 7 PM CDT Wednesday.
Heat index values up to 109 degrees are expected. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. The advisory was issued at 12:47 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 8.
Precautions include drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors. The National Weather Service advises wearing lightweight and loose fitting clothing, limiting strenuous activities to early morning or evening, and taking action when symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke are seen. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency; call 9 1 1.

Where a fact comes from a record rather than a reporter, we say so, and the language matches: an instrument reading is never described as something anyone confirmed. Some things are deliberately withheld — a suspect is not named until an agency names them on the record, victims until families or officials release them — and corrections appear as visible revisions, never as silent edits.
