Heat Advisory Issued for Lexington and Much of Central and Western Kentucky
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Lexington and much of central and western Kentucky, warning that prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. The advisory is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Thursday, September 3, 2026, and will lift at 8 PM EDT on Friday, September 4, 2026, according to the Weather Service.
The advisory covers Union County and the cities of Weddington, Trinity, Indian Trail, and Monroe, as reported by kykernel.com. Heat index values are expected to reach between 100 and 107 degrees for at least three days, with daily highs in the middle and upper 90s.
The Weather Service advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location, and heat stroke is an emergency.

The National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC has issued a Heat Advisory for Union County, North Carolina, in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT Thursday, September 3, 2026. The advisory will lift at 8 p.m. EDT. It was issued at 2:15 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, September 2.
Heat index values up to 106 degrees are expected. The advisory covers the cities of Weddington, Trinity, Indian Trail, and Monroe. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
The National Weather Service advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
