Heat Advisory for Washington, Nowata, Craig and Other Northeast Oklahoma Counties Until 8 PM CDT Sunday
The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Heat Advisory for a portion of northeast Oklahoma, in effect from noon to 8 PM CDT Sunday, August 30, 2026. The advisory covers 12 counties, including Washington, Nowata, Craig, Pawnee, Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Creek, Wagoner, and Osage County (western, northeast, and southeast portions). The advisory expires at 8 PM CDT Sunday.
According to the advisory, heat index values up to 106 are expected. The Weather Service warns that heat-related illnesses are possible, especially for those not acclimated to the conditions or those performing strenuous activities. Residents are advised to take extra precautions when outside, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening, and take action when seeing symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Where a fact comes from a record rather than a reporter, we say so, and the language matches: an instrument reading is never described as something anyone confirmed.
