Pear Lake Wildfire in Cariboo Grows to 166,131.9 Hectares, Cause Lightning
The Pear Lake wildfire, discovered on July 17, is burning out of control and has grown to 166,131.9 hectares, according to the Caledonia Courier. The fire is reported to be lightning-caused.
The fire has forced evacuations in the Cariboo region. One evacuee who returned home found their property destroyed by the fire and looted by thieves, the Caledonia Courier reported.
The fire remains active and out of control, with no containment figure reported.

Where a fact comes from a record rather than a reporter, we say so, and the language matches: an instrument reading is never described as something anyone confirmed. Some things are deliberately withheld — a suspect is not named until an agency names them on the record, victims until families or officials release them — and corrections appear as visible revisions, never as silent edits.
